solar street light at night

All you need to know about 'All-in-one solar street light'

India is the most populated country and the demand for electricity is too high, according to times of India it was said that there were nearly 18500 villages didn’t had electricity,

After 2015 it was drastically reduced after the entrance of PM Narendra Modi Now nearly 3.08 crores of solar street light are installed which saved 3420 Million kWh & CO2 emission reduction of approx. 29 lakh tons,

Do you know ?

For creating a AtmaNirbhar Bharat according to PLI schemes government of India has recently made a commitment of 1.97 lakh crore for 13 sectors over 5 years starting from year 2021-2022 and 4500cr for the installation of solar PV module which will be done by  Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE)

weather it’s a simple solar street light or a All in one solar street light both have almost the same capacity

In this blog you will get to know ‘

– What is All in one solar street light.

– Working

– Installation

– Battery

– How to get benefit from solar street lights .

– Things you must consider before buying street lights.

Before going for what is all in one solar street light let us know what are the components present in the solar powered street light .

– A solar panel

– high efficiency LED lights

– Automatic PIR motion sensor

– In-built Lithium ion battery/ Li-ferro phosphate battery

– A charge controller

– interrelated cables

Now, let’s know

What actually is an All in one solar street light ?

A compact street light consisting of a combination of solar panel and a Light emitting diodes along with a in-built system of solar battery consisting of (Lithium ion/Lithium ferro phosphate) along with the PIR motion sensor and a MPPT charge controller

Why do you need to choose all in one solar street light ? Why not other solar street lights ?

So, all in one solar street lights are really easy to install they really don’t need any connection or cable, and they are light in weight

Other street lights such as Integrated, CFL, flood and LED have separate solar panels, but All in one have as the name says the panel and LED diodes are in one compact form with other components

People often get confused between Integrated and Compact street light

[Picture of Compact street light ]

Actually both, all in one and integrated are the same just their is a difference in solar panels like one has solar panel compactly attached with LED diodes but in case of integrated solar powered street light the panel is attached separately

Working

They work under a condition called dusk to dawn operations, as immediately the sun sets the lights automatically get turned on with the help of Solar panel voltage.

And with the help of PIR motion sensor the light gets automatically dimmed and brighten up, if there is no motion for certain amount of time considerably one minute the light dims automatically

There are relatively 4 categories

  • Time controlled: This type of solar powered lights can be controlled by humans where they can set a particular time so that the light starts emitting automatically according to the fixed time
  • Photocell solar outdoor lights: These lights automatically turns on and off according to the sunlight
  • Motion Detectors: These type of lights detect the humanly motion and accordingly emit the light
  • App based: These type of lights are connected with your Bluetooth, Wifi, and mobile devices these are totally controlled by humans wherever they are they can turn it off and on accordingly

Installation

Both are easy to install and are better than traditional street lights but most people prefer All in one & integrated solar street light

A intelligent solar street light can be installed easily just

  • ploughing
  • fitting the LED lights
  • and straightening up the pole

But in case of traditional

  • We need to Evacuate the pit according to the needs design and planning
  • Separately install the solar panels and also need to wire it around the pole or through the hole in the pole
  • Install the battery box and the charge controller
  • After installing all the components need to check the components weather its installed correctly or not
  • Straightening up the pole
  • You will also need a Experienced workers for the installation the charges for that are separate

But this is not the case for smart solar street lights as said above,

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) have taken a major steps to light up rural areas by launching the Atal Jyoti Yojna scheme its a sub scheme which comes under off grid and decentralised solar panel

Battery

Let’s talk about the battery used people always debate about LiFePo4 vs Li-ion battery, all most all people prefer LiFepo4 and Li-ion battery as both are literally good,

But Lithium ion battery has more energy density and battery voltage capacity than LiFePo4 battery and they are more stable even after charging hundreds of times and can function better under lower temperatures

Benefits

  • MNRE has targeted states such as Assam, Bihar, Orissa, Uttar pradesh, and Jharkhand by providing a 70 lakh LED street lights to get benefits of AJAY you need to contact your local municipality
  • All in one are really easy to install and performs better than split type solar street lights
  • It can help in reducing some amount of carbon footprint, as it’s considered a clean energy fuel & can help in reducing pollution
  • Low maintenance costs, and even if there’s a problem in street lights you can complaint at AJAY dashboard
  • Badkhera village is a perfect example before installing the solar street lights there were many accidents which were happening in badkhera(MP) village after installation of 10 solar lamps and 80+ street lights with the help of Milaap the accidents are reduced

Things to consider before buying all in one solar street lights

  • Type of solar panel: There are basically two types of solar panel monocrystalline and polycrystalline,if you prefere polycrystalline they are affordable but they are less efficient than Monocrystalline
  • Light source: There are two types of diodes LED(Light emitting diodes) and HID(High intensity discharge lights) all in one street light prefers LED which are actually durable and emits light at high intensity LED has a span of 1,00,000 hours and HID has approx (10,000 – 25,000 hours) [source:stouchlightining]
  • Batteries: One must consider batteries according to the climatic conditions Lithium ion batteries are better as they work under Lower temperature regions and have higher efficiency (Check out our lithium ion solar batteries where they have capacity to function upto -30deg temperatures)
  • Charge controller: PMW(Pulse width modulation) and MPPT(maximum power point tracking) it is said that MPPT charge controller are 30% more efficient than PMW

The impact of EV policy in New Delhi

The impact of EV policy in New Delhi on improving the air quality index A well-known fact about Delhi's air quality is that it is deteriorating rapidly. It generally starts getting worse by the end of October as winter arrives. It generates more air pollution for the capital city of India. According to Berkeley Earth, even if the AQI (air quality index) is typically adequate, breathing that air is equivalent to smoking 31 cigarettes. As per WHO, The current air quality of New Delhi is so bad that it has affected and damaged the lungs of more than half of children. This eventually leads to an increased risk of diseases...
