Tips To Keep Your Lithium-Ion Battery Healthy

Lithium batteries are present almost everywhere today. They are the most common used batteries in consumer electronics. From EVs to medical devices to cell phones to toys, they are used widely. There are a lot of articles on how to conserve battery power but on not much about how to take care of your lithium storage batteries. In today’s world, battery life is precious. There’s much confusion among the users on how to prolong the battery life or take care of it. Follow these tips to keep your lithium-ion batteries healthy so that they last longer:

Keep your batteries at room temperature. Avoid extreme temperatures, both high and low. Always keep your batteries at room temperature, be it solar batteries or electric vehicle batteries. The worst thing that can happen to a lithium battery is to have a full charge and be subjected to elevated temperatures. Elevated temperature can lead to significant safety risks, including fire or even explosion. Heat is by far the biggest factor when it comes to reducing lithium ion battery life.

Upgrade Solar Panels

Unplug the device as soon as it reaches the 1000% charge. Always go for partial charge that restores the battery to 80%, instead of 100%. Both extremely high and low states of charge can destroy the battery life. Also, do not recharge deeply discharged lithium-ion batteries if they have been stored in that condition for several months.

Avoid storing or using lithium-ion batteries in high-moisture environments. If the lithium battery is exposed to moisture, it may lead to reduced product life and performance.

Don’t store a discharged battery that has less than one-half charge. Give it a full charge and then store it carefully.

Use a battery charger that is made for lithium-ion batteries. These chargers include a component that allows them to adjust the charge depending on how charged the battery is. Using an appropriate charger reduces the risk of damaging your battery. It’s best if you use the battery charger that came with your battery.

Battery life is cut down short when they are charged using the wrong voltage. One of the benefits of using a lithium-ion battery is that they offer rapid charging so there is no need to mess with the process.

Lithium-ion batteries are a huge improvement over other types of batteries. All batteries need to be cared for properly to ensure they meet their maximum potential. Different types of batteries have different requirement. Take care of your batteries properly so that you have a reliable battery when you need it.
